BODY
BLAST CALORIES
IN 12 MINUTES
Instead of just hoofing it in the park, try mixing up your routine
with this total-body workout from Darren Taylor, co-owner of
Boot Camp Fitness in Brooklyn.
Minute 0–2: Walk briskly, taking long strides and swinging your arms in
an exaggerated fashion.
Minute 2–3: Stop at a bench (or a roomy spot) and stretch your legs,
arms and back.
Minute 3–5: Do 20 jumping jacks, then jog for 20 seconds, bringing
knees as high as you can. Repeat sequence 3 times.
Minute 5–6: Do 15 push-ups (modified or full).
Minute 6–7: Do triceps dips off a bench or step (as many as you can).
Minute 7–8: Lunge forward with right foot, hold for a few seconds, and
return to start. Do 10 lunges, alternating sides.
Minute 8–9: Do 20 seconds of each: running in place, mountain climbers
(in push-up position, alternate bringing left and right knee
up toward chest), running in place again.
Minute 9–10: Squat 15 times, then run in place for 20 seconds.
Minute 10–11: Do 20 lunges (alternating legs each time).
Minute 11–12: Finish with 20 crunches.

Next time you’re beating yourself up over a little
extra body fat, remember, if these decidedly
unhunky men (yes, beauty is in the eye of the
beholder, but Brad Pitt they ain’t) can sport skimpy
bathing suits, tight T’s and sleeveless tanks with
confidence, you can too!

“What’s a better workout for the elliptical—lots
of resistance and a slow speed, or superfast at a
low level?” —Kelly Scheidegger, 40, Minneapolis
A: If you’re looking to burn the most calories (as well as tone
your glutes, hamstrings and quads), ride at a higher resistance
(level 10 to 15) and a lower speed (around 40 to 50 rpm),
according to Katherine Adamenko, a personal trainer at
Equinox Fitness Clubs in New York City. If you’re looking to
improve your cardio endurance, ride at a lower resistance
(level 3) and moving your legs faster (about 60 to 80 rpm).
Want the best of both worlds? Do intervals, alternating three
minutes at a high resistance with one minute at a lower one.
Donald Trump—Boasted that he would
look good in an itsy-bitsy pink bathing
suit on The Apprentice Los Angeles.
Simon Cowell—Displays his man
boobs with pride in tight black T-shirts
(with lots of droll attitude).
Kid Rock—Even with stringy hair
and scrawny arms, no one does the
ribbed tank more justice.
Hugh Hefner—Scary but true: The
original king of confidence still attracts
babes, even in his pajamas.
